Ipplepen Community Photography Challenge

Ipplepen Community Photography Challenge

During this period of social distancing and lockdown, keeping ourselves and our family’s busy can sometimes be challenging. To help in some small way we have created regular weekly community photography? competition. I say photography? as the end product may be a photograph but the photograph might be of something you have had to create. Each week the theme will change, sometimes with separate themes for different age groups, hopefully providing categories to enable everyone interested in the opportunity to get involved, without leaving your home or garden.

Competition details
There will be three age groups; 12 and under, 13-19 and 20 and above. Each week we will have a different theme for each age group. Each person will only be able to submit one photo in their age-appropriate category. Submissions need to be in jpeg format and under 5mb. Competitions will run for a week with a submission deadline of midnight Friday each week. Winners will be notified the following week by email once judging has taken place.

Every entrant will be awarded points by the judges weekly. The highest overall scoring photograph across all three age categories each week will win a £5 Co-op voucher. Sorry, it can’t be more. The weekly competition will run until the lockdown is lifted. The entrant who has accumulated the most points during the whole lockdown competition will also win a prize.

Each week’s photographic challenge will be announced on Saturday via the Ipplepen.info website and the Spotted Ipplepen Facebook group. Please don’t be put off by the term Photographic? Competition. This is as much about the idea behind your image, the fun and enjoyment you hopefully had while thinking about, planning and finally creating your image, than the actual image itself. Go on have a go.

Have Fun, Stay Safe, Keep Connected.

Competition Rules/T&C

This is a fun, relaxed, unofficial community event which SHOULD be entered in to lightly. However, for those amongst us who need to know more below, you will find details of the organisation of this light-hearted community-focused event. The competition is being conducted through the photography competition website Judgify. We have simplified the enrolment and submission process to collect the minimum amount of information necessary. Name and email address. Submissions are restricted to one per person per week, however you can submit other photographs on behalf of someone else. If an entrant submits more than photograph for judging the first image uploaded to Judgify will be the only one judged. Submissions are required to be a maximum of 5mb as a restriction of the free account we have with Judgify. Judging is conducted by four Ipplepen residents, although technically, one currently resides in Falmouth. All the judges have an interest, experience or qualifications in photography or Art and represent a wide variety of age groups from our community. Judging is anonymous. Judges only see the image and are asked to score it out of 10. Only images submitted to the Judgify website will be entered in to the competition and judged. The links provided on Ipplepen.info takes you straight to the Judgify website. The Event Organiser who does not judge collates the results and informs the winner by email. The winning image for each category will be posted on this website. By submitting a photograph to the competition you are agreeing to your image being posted here. The competition is free to enter and the meager prize money is provided by me the event organiser. I wish I could offer more. The event has been created solely to provide the people of Ipplepen an activity to help fill just a few minutes of the week during the period of Social Isolation.
